“50-50” odds NAFTA will be terminated – Mexico Institute

Mexico’s ambassador to the U.S. Gerónimo Gutiérrez tells CBS News “We’re now about 50-50” odds NAFTA will be terminated. This follows a fifth spherical of renegotiations amid the U.S., Mexico, and Canada that concluded past thirty day period in Mexico Town on the practically 24-12 months-old no cost trade agreement.

U.S. Trade Agent Robert Lighthizer said in a statement Nov. 21: “I continue being worried about the lack of headway. As a result considerably, we have observed no proof that Canada or Mexico are prepared to significantly interact on provisions that will lead to a rebalanced agreement. Absent rebalancing, we will not get to a satisfactory consequence.”
