Mexico opposition officials qualified by government spying: report – Mexico Institute

3 senior opposition officials in Mexico, like a celebration leader, were being qualified with spying program bought to governments to fight criminals and terrorists, according to a report by researchers at the University of Toronto.

The officials, who integrated conservative Countrywide Motion Bash (PAN) head Ricardo Anaya, been given text messages joined to program recognized as Pegasus, which Israeli corporation NSO Group only sells to governments, the report by Citizen Lab reported.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has asked the attorney general’s business to examine charges that the government spied on personal citizens, expressing he wished to get to the base of the accusations that he identified as “false.”

Last week, Citizen Lab, a team of researchers at the University of Toronto’s Monk Faculty, recognized twelve activists, human-rights attorneys and journalists who had also seen attempts to infect their telephones with the powerful spyware.
